![]() ![]() It only got better and easier in the meantime. I used to mod a lot for ARK, and that was many-many years ago. On the other hand, UE4 is already moddable, so it is immensely better than having some random, WB-owned custom engine (or even Cryengine, Unity, etc.). It'd require remaking half of the game from the ground up. Shaders, nanite meshes, blueprint calsses, etc. UE5 released now, 5 years later, and even know, it's still rather buggy and requires a lot of fixes and patches, so it is advisable for studios not to upgrade just yet.Īlso, while the youngsters on forums keep talking about how "they just need to port this UE4 version to UE5", I must tell you that this is not as easy as it sounds. We had a gameplay leak in 2018, which means they already had been working on this since at least 2017. When they started making this game, UE5 wasn't even a thing. This just shows your lack of knowledge, but I dont wanna be mean, so don't take this in a bad way. ![]() Many have pledged not to buy Hogwarts Legacy due to the author's political activity, and are encouraging others to boycott it, too, an issue I covered in depth earlier this week.Originally posted by Draconic Gaming: To my knowledge, Legacy is operating on Unreal Engine 5, or maybe a custom version of it. Hogwarts Legacy also includes a trans character, a first for the Harry Potter universe, but the choice has understandably not been seen as a win for representation, and has instead been interpreted as an ineffectual effort to parry the issue of Harry Potter creator JK Rowling's years-long campaign against trans acceptance. (I'll save my dismay for the inevitable mod that turns Hogwarts into a whites-only school.) In that context, it could be taken as unpleasantly ironic that there's a day-one paleness mod, but the great majority of the comments I've seen express only a desire to see their own likeness in the game, or to create a Draco Malfoy-like character. Like some other popular fantasy works, the Harry Potter series has been extensively criticized for excluding or stereotyping people of color (when it's not Opposite Day, that is), and that was clearly on the minds of Hogwarts Legacy's developers. ![]() ![]() The NPCs populating Hogwarts Legacy are a much more diverse group than the teaching staff and student body from the original movies, at least as far as skin tones go. ![]()
